4th place for Germany at the European Championships

In 2022 the European Footvolley Championships hosted by the European Footvolley League (EFVL) took place in Rome, Italy. We are proud to say that the best national female team (Nicole Kraus and Lea Storzum) and the best male team (Joel Nißlein and Lukas Kicherer) in 2022 were representing Germany at the most important tournament of the season. From Friday to Sunday only the strongest European Footvolley teams were fighting to crown the new Champion.

Unfortunately, our girls lost the first two matches despite strong performances versus Austria and Israel. Following a win against the Swiss, they secured their spot in the quarters. Against the subsequent finalist from the Netherlands, Lea and Nicole were defeated in a late-night game on Saturday. After strong tournaments and great performances at the EFC they can be proud of what they achieved in 2022!

Our male team reached the quarter-finals directly after beating Israel 2, Sweden, and the later European Champion 2022 from Spain. As revenge for the girls‘ loss, they defeated the Netherlands in their quarters and went to the semi-finals vs. Italy. After a promising start for our boys, Italy improved incredibly within the game and won 2-0. Similarly, the game for the 3rd against France seemed to be very equal until a score of 12-12, but then France took over the game and secured their spot on the podium. However, the 4th place is particularly amazing because the best team from each nation participated in the tournament. Joel and Lukas proved again, that despite the long winter Germany is a serious opponent in every international tournament.

Congratulations to the new European Champions from Spain (m) and Italy (f)!
